Crptic's 'Orlando'

Leith Tonight is giving itself a big pat on the back tonight after hearing the Edinburgh Schools Rock Ensemble made £2000 from their charity 10th Birthday gig at the HMV Picture House on Saturday night! Congratulations to organiser Roisin of Fresh Music Promotions and all the bands that took part for lending their talents to such a worthwhile cause. Long live ESRE!

Moving smugly on….

On the show tonight Annabel talks to artistic director Cathie Boyd from boundary-pushing theatre company CRYPTIC about their performance of ORLANDO at the TRAVERSE. This interpretation of Virginia Woolf‘s famous novel/biography includes music composed by the highly decorated CRAIG ARMSTRONG and experimental musician and performer AGF, snip-its of which you can hear during the interview.

Next up the frighteningly talented PENNY BLACK blow our socks off with a couple of sumptuous live renditions from their self-titled EP. Leith Tonight ‘ones to watch’ for sure!

And equally impressive, BACKLASH achieve the small miracle of ROCKING OUT the studio without the power of electricity and promise to come back with their shiny new EP of songs beginning with ‘L’ as soon as it’s finished. Watch this space…
