Daniel Rigby – Mothwalkfantastic
Our first phone-in of the season, with the very busy and in-demand Daniel Rigby with his super-funny show Mothwalkfantastic.
An hour of sketch, character and musical comedy written and performed by award winning stand-up comedian Daniel Rigby with the help of a robot he built especially for such events. A bowlful of dark silliness for you to point and laugh at.
The Telegraph says ‘Daniel Rigby is a 26-year-old Rada graduate with the energy of a squirrel on speed, a slightly mad glint in his eye and an endearing willingness to make a 24-carat idiot of himself’.
Then a live set with Silvern. Simple chords, meaningful lyrics and engaging harmonies. Silvern are calming and their individual characters are reflected in song. Kelly Glasheen and Pamela Gillis brought us a delicious blend of melodic folk and modern acoustic.
Venus n Furs
Next up, it was the turn of Pauline Lockart and Jenny Ryan to present THE VIOLET HOUR from the new theatre company ‘Venus n’ Furs’. Venus ‘n Furs is a brand new company created to explore exciting new ways of providing a theatre experience rich in story and character.
THE VIOLET HOUR – when day and night and shadows merge. Life and literature, novels and nuptials combine to tell the extra-ordinary events of ordinary lives.
Pauline Lockhart (2nd Dan Black belt in Tae Kwon Do) and Jenny Ryan (RSAMD grad) have been working to create a new piece of theatre and share their development work on the 18th and 22nd August at 8pm in front of Leith Town Hall/Theatre and behind Leith Library. This work in progress will be developed further to form the company’s first production.
Finally, we had the sweet, petite and fiesty Emma Forman who played a live sesh. Emma is an acoustic pop/rock country singer songwriter based in Scotland.
